Airfield History

History of the field

The Stansted Model Flying Club flying field is situated north of Saffron Walden, between Hadstock and Little Walden near the B1052.
The site is the old Little Walden Airfield which was a live airfield from 1944 to 1958 and was home to the 409th Bombardment Group and the 361st Fighter Group. The SMFC flying field is in open farmland with flat terrain all around and a mud-free concrete pit area.

Historical information on the RAF Little Walden flying site can be found here on  Wikipedia.
